Crowds set to zoom into town for first Modesto Grand Prix
The spotlight will be on downtown this weekend as thousands of spectators converge there for the first Modesto Grand Prix, featuring about 250 superkart drivers racing on city streets.
Modesto officials say the race will showcase downtown and create a positive experience that will draw people back. They expect the race to give a jump-start to the economy. About 10,000 spectators, along with the hundreds of drivers and their crew and family members, are expected to spend about $1 million over the course of the event.
On Friday you may enter downtown at the intersection of H & 11th Streets or K & 12th Streets.
